When I think about turning on my PC to write, I open up a world of possibilities. What shall I write about? How will I tell my story today? Should it be a personal experience of fiction written?
I am sure you all go through thoughts like these. It is a place to relax, let out frustration or maybe educate others with the knowledge you possess. We all have our own personal reasons why we write, how we got started and where we want to be in the future.
As the world becomes more mobile, we look for ways of being more efficient, I get it and understand why we look at the world in this way. We all want convenient lives. However, where do we stop?
There is a reason why the top writers are successful, they take time with their craft, edit over and over again and give a message that people want to read. They are creative and interesting, and maybe a part of us wants to be them, live their lifestyle and be in their world.
When editing on Medium, it can get frustrating when I perceive (rightly or wrongly) how badly some articles I receive have been badly formatted. I often wonder what has gone through people’s minds when writing.
Is this about churning out articles a pure numbers game, or do you care about what people think about your writing? I have some questions for you:
Would you play golf with a snooker queue?
Would you go to a butcher for an operation?
Would you drive your car to work backwards/in reverse every day?
Then why would you try writing an article on Medium with a mobile phone or tablet, knowing it would be limited?
You could pick up a basic laptop for browsing the internet and writing articles on Medium for less than you would pay for a tablet or mobile phone. So, if you are serious about writing, please “invest in yourself” and use the tools supported on Medium.
Please, writers, take yourself seriously, invest in yourself and learn the craft of writing with enjoyment. You will gain more pleasure and a bigger audience with well-written and correctly formatted articles.
I have a help section on Medium. To check it out, please “click here.”

I agree. I make notes on my phone. Occasionally I edit something I’m working on when the idea hits me.
What works best is pen and paper. And then, I write on my computer.
