Time and Effort
Today I joined my eleventh platform. I must be mad, working sixty hours a week in my day job, being a father to three children and a husband to my beautiful wife. How do I manage to keep on top of ten platforms? Why did I join another one today?
Which Platforms?
I recently posted a video about the different platforms I am on via one of my YouTube channels. Click here to check it out. To give you an overview, below are my platforms, putting aside the one I joined today.
YouTube (two going to three very soon)
Trading 212 (A personal link I cannot share)
I have joined so many because I wanted to have an overall experience of social networking and what each platform can do based on the work and time I put into each of them.
I do not predict that I will be on all ten of these platforms long-term, but I think it is essential to test each one out as I look for the best side hustle.
My Eleventh Platform
Today I joined Mastodon, but what is it?
Mastodon is a social media platform that offers an alternative to mainstream social networks like Twitter and Facebook.
It was created in 2016 by Eugen Rochko, and it is based on an open-source, federated system that allows multiple servers to interconnect. This means that users can sign up on any Mastodon server, or "instance", and still connect and interact with users on other instances.
Mastodon operates on the principle of "instances," which are independent servers that have their own unique rules and communities. Each instance has its own set of users, and users can follow and interact with each other regardless of which instance they are on.
The decentralized nature of Mastodon means that there is no one central authority controlling the platform, and instances can be created and moderated by anyone.
Mastodon offers many of the same features as other social media platforms, such as posting messages, following other users, liking and sharing posts, and creating groups or communities.
However, it also emphasizes privacy and content moderation, with each instance having its own set of rules and moderators. This gives users more control over their online experience and the content they see.
Say Hello
As a new platform user, please feel free to drop by and say hello. It would be great to start some positive connections and see where this new platform (to me) takes us. I am very excited to learn more and engage with some new friends. Finding some of my friends from these other platforms would be great.
My Question
I always like to finish with a conclusion or question.
What platforms are you on? Which do you prefer and why? Which platform has the most engagement with your friends and followers? Please link your bios in the comments section. I would love to check them out.
