Introduction
Have you ever found yourself scrolling through your Medium feed only to be bombarded with “expert” advice on wealth management? People who seem to have sprung from nowhere, claiming to have cracked the code to financial freedom.
These self-proclaimed financial gurus often discuss the importance of “passive income,” “investing in yourself,” and “living below your means.”
While these are all sound principles, taking them seriously is hard when the speaker’s net worth is still measured in single-digit figures. It’s like asking a cat to advise on dog training.
You have zero credibility
One of the most common tactics these wannabe wealth advisors use is to share their “rags-to-riches” stories. They will tell you how they started with nothing and built a multi-million dollar empire.
But when you dig deeper, you discover that their “rags” were a pair of slightly worn jeans, and their “riches” were a slightly upgraded cable package.
How many people on Medium are financially rich and have total freedom? I am sure there are some, but I am not one of them. Despite earning a six-figure salary, I would never proclaim to be financially free or attempt to give advice on how to achieve it.
I do invest in the stock exchange, but I consider myself to be in a “learning process”, so whilst I may pop up with the odd article, it is mainly about what I am investing in and not one of advice for others.
What The Hell Is A “She Wee”?
OMG…………….this is just too funny (slap)
Conclusion
So, the next time you encounter someone who is eager to share their wealth management wisdom, remember to ask yourself: “Have they actually achieved any wealth themselves?” It may be worth asking them to provide evidence to show credibility to their article.
If the answer is no, then it’s probably best to take their advice with a grain of salt. Or, better yet, just stick to your favourite financial advisor: your grandma.
She might not know much about cryptocurrency or NFTs, but she’ll always tell you to save your pennies. Seriously though, you work hard for your money, seek a credible financial advisor with experience and protect yourself and your family's future.
